What this says

As at Fri 9 Oct 2026

Joanna Platt is pleased with early Starter usage and plans to refer about three ready clients. One senior consultant drives most questions. A fifth connector is a new-year add-on or upgrade conversation for Sophie Ling.

What happened: Marcus Bell's check-in on 3 Nov 2025 opened with Joanna's referral pipeline, then covered usage, connectors, support and money. Joanna gave a clear division of work: her first intro, Marcus's demo, terms with Sophie Ling, delivery back with Mossbrook.

Customer view: Active users average nearly three against fifteen licensed, and Joanna is happy with price and value. Records indexed are rising and there were no tickets in the last month.

Commercial: The four Starter connectors are in use. A project and timesheet system would be a fifth, which needs an add-on or a different tier, so Marcus will pass it to Sophie for the new year.

Watch: One senior consultant now asks most of the questions. Joanna accepts that others may not open it if he is away, so the half-hour team session matters.

Follow-up

Next steps

As at Fri 9 Oct 2026
  • Marcus Bell to send times for a half-hour team session, not on a Friday.
  • Joanna Platt to send the client and attendee names by Thursday.
  • Marcus Bell to pass the extra system question to Sophie Ling and hold a short call early each month.

Risks

As at Fri 9 Oct 2026
  • One senior consultant asks most of the questions, so usage depends on one person.
  • Active use is nearly three people against fifteen licensed seats, so the value story rests on a small group.

Opportunities

As at Fri 9 Oct 2026
  • A fifth connector for project and timesheet data would need an add-on or a higher tier, to be raised by Sophie Ling in the new year.
  • Joanna intends to refer about three ready clients, each with a Snowflake warehouse in decent shape.

  1. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Hello, Joanna. Can you hear me alright?
  2. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Loud and clear. Can you hear me? I'm in the little meeting room at the back, so tell me if there's an echo.
  3. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
No, sounds fine. Afternoon. Good weekend?
  4. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Quiet, thanks. Took the dog up on the moors on Sunday and we both got soaked. Proper November. You?
  5. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Similar, honestly. Rain, football, then a lot of washing. Anyway, thanks for making time. I've got half an hour in the diary, so I'll try not to eat all of it.
  6. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Twenty-eight minutes, according to my invite, but who's counting. Do you mind if I start with the pipeline? It's the bit I'm most excited about, and then you can do your numbers.
  7. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Go for it. That's usually the better half of the call anyway.
  8. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Right. So, of our clients, the sixty or so we look after, I've had a proper think about who's ready. There are a couple who are already well along. They've got the warehouse in Snowflake in decent shape, their data is reasonably tidy, and the finance directors keep asking questions we can only answer by writing a new query each time.
  9. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Mm. That's exactly the sort of client it works best for.
  10. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Exactly. Then there's another handful who are a bit earlier. Good intentions, messy sources. I'd park those for now. I'm not going to put anyone in front of you that I wouldn't stake my name on, so I'd rather give you three good ones than ten maybes.
  11. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That suits us. Quality over quantity, every time. And just so I'm clear, are you wanting to make the introductions yourself, or would you like us to reach out with you copied in?
  12. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Ooh, good question. Who owns this, us or you? My instinct is that I make the first introduction, because they know me, and then you take over for the actual demo. Then I'm back in for delivery if they sign.
  13. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That works for me. I should say the commercial side of referrals, how it's set up and so on, that's Sophie Ling. She's your account owner. I'd just be treading on her toes if I started talking terms, so I'll make sure she picks that up with you.
  14. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Fine. Let's write that down. First intro from me, demo from you, terms with Sophie, delivery back with us. I'll put it in an email after so it's not just floating around.
  15. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Lovely. Right, shall I share my screen and show you what we've pulled together on your own usage? Then we can come back to the referral bits.
  16. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
    Yes, please.
  17. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Can you see that alright? It should be the usage page for Mossbrook.
  18. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
I can see it. A bit small. Is that a graph going up?
  19. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
It is, and I'll make it bigger. So what I wanted to cover today is three things: how many of your people are actually using it, what they're asking, and whether anything's got in the way. Happy to jump on a longer call if any of it needs more digging.
  20. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Starting with people. You're licensed for fifteen users on Starter. Over the last month, the average number of active people has been nearly three. Which doesn't sound like much against fifteen, I know, but compared with the previous quarter it's gone up enormously. You were barely on it before, really, because you were still getting set up.
  21. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Right, that tallies. We only really got our consultants into it properly in the autumn. Before that it was me, and one other, poking around.
  22. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Yeah. And that's the pattern I'd expect. The first stretch after go-live is quiet while people get their bearings, then it picks up. So I'm not worried about the fifteen. There's loads of headroom.
  23. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Good. Honestly, I'd like to get that number up. I just need to be a bit careful about who I give access to. Some of our consultants are on client sites four days a week, and they forget logins exist.
  24. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That's fair enough. Can I ask, who's the heaviest user at the moment? Is it still you?
  25. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
It was me. Lately it's been one of our senior consultants, who's using it to prep for client reviews. He pulls up the history of a client, the emails, the tickets, what's been said on calls, and he gets a picture in a few minutes that used to take him most of a morning.
  26. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That's the use I like to hear about. I'll just flag, and this isn't a worry, only something to keep an eye on, that if most of the questions come from one or two people, it's worth spreading it around over time. Then it doesn't hang on any single person being around.
  27. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Yes, no, that's sensible. I've been thinking the same. If he went on holiday for a fortnight, I'm not sure anyone else would open it.
  28. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Ha. Well, we could help with that. I could do a short session, maybe half an hour, for a few more of your consultants. Show them the questions that tend to earn their keep. Would that be useful?
  29. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Very. What does the client need on day one? That's what I keep asking myself, and I think it's the same question for my own people. Show them two or three things they can do straight away, and they'll come back.
  30. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Exactly that. I'll build the session around your actual data, so it's not a generic walkthrough. Shall we book thirty minutes for it? I'll send some times after this.
  31. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Please. Ideally not a Friday afternoon, nobody takes anything in.
  32. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Noted, no Fridays. Right, moving on to the connectors. You've got the four connected that were in the original order, which is the Starter limit, and that's all live and loading. I've looked at records indexed and they've been moving up steadily, week on week, so nothing's gone stale.
  33. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Which is what I'd hope. I'd have been on to you if it hadn't. Though, can I ask something slightly awkward? We use a couple of other systems internally that aren't connected. If I wanted one of those in, is that a conversation about changing plan?
  34. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Not awkward at all. On Starter, four connectors is a hard limit, so a fifth would need either an add-on or a different tier. I'm not the right person to price that for you, I'd only get it wrong, but Sophie can talk you through the options. What would the system be, roughly?
  35. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
It's our project and timesheet side of things. It would help us see how much effort a client is really costing us against what we've told them. Not urgent. More of a nice-to-have for the new year.
  36. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Okay. I'll pass that to Sophie as something to pick up in the new year, then, rather than anything today. And I wouldn't want you to feel pushed.
  37. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
No, I don't. I'd rather know the options. Put it on the list.
  38. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
On the list. Now, support. I've looked at the helpdesk and there's nothing from you in the last month. No tickets at all, high priority or otherwise. Which I always read two ways: either it's all going well, or nobody's using it enough to hit a problem.
  39. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Well, given the usage graph you've just shown me, I think it's the first one. Though I'll be honest, the one thing we did trip over was a permissions question, and we worked it out ourselves from the guide.
  40. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That's good to hear, but do raise those next time, even if you've solved it. It helps us see where the guide could be clearer.
  41. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Fair. Will do. I'd rather not be the person who quietly puts up with things.
  42. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Ha, no. And on the money side, there's nothing overdue on the account. Everything's been invoiced and paid as per the order form, so that's all tidy at nineteen and a half thousand a year, which matches what's on the contract. I'm only mentioning it so you know I've looked.
  43. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Good, my finance person would be horrified otherwise. Though between us, I think the price is fine for what we're getting. I've not had anyone grumbling about value.
  44. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That's good to hear. I'll leave the price chat to Sophie, as I say, but I'm glad it feels worthwhile.
  45. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Can I ask you about the questions side, though? What are people actually asking? I've got my own sense, but I'd like to know whether it matches what you see.
  46. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Sure, let me scroll. So, the biggest chunk is client-history type questions, what's happened with this client, who spoke to them last, what did they say about the last release. Then a smaller group is about open issues and renewals for your own clients. And a few are about your own side, who's on what project.
  47. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
That matches. The renewal thing is interesting, because that's where I think it gets really valuable for us. Our clients' contracts come up and we're always the last to know, and having it all in one place might change that.
  48. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
It might well. Is that something you'd want a dashboard for? That's more of a Growth feature, I should say, so I don't want to promise something that's not in your plan. But pages and chat will get you a long way.
  49. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
No, pages and chat are plenty at the moment. I'd rather get my people using what we've got before I start asking for more.
  50. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Sensible. I wish more customers said that.
  51. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Ha. Can I go back to the referrals for a second? Because there's something I want to be clear about before I start sending people your way.
  52. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
    Of course. Go on.
  53. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
When a client of ours comes on board, the first few weeks matter more than anything. We've done a few already, and the ones that went best were where we were in the room with you at the start. I'd like that to be the standard, not a nice surprise. So when I introduce someone, I'm assuming we're both on the kickoff. Is that how you see it?
  54. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Yes, definitely. I'd want you there anyway. You know their warehouse better than we ever will in the first month. I can't speak for the implementation side on exactly who sits in which meeting, but I'll make sure that's raised, and I'd be surprised if it were an issue.
  55. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Okay. And one thing I've learned, never let a referral go without a follow-up. I'd like a rhythm, where I hear back from you within a few days of each intro, even if it's only to say they've not replied.
  56. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That I can do. I'll tell you where each one stands. Even a one-line email.
  57. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Perfect. Let's write that down too. One-line update after every intro.
  58. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Written. And can I ask, what do you think is the main thing your clients worry about when you mention it? So I'm ready for it in the demos.
  59. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Mostly where the data lives. They hear AI and they assume it all goes off to someone else's servers. Once I explain it runs inside their own Snowflake account, that tends to settle people down. After that it's usually, who sees what?
  60. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Right, the permissions bit. That's good for me to know. I'll make sure I start the demos with where it runs, and then who can see what, before anything fancy.
  61. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Yes, please. Lead with that. And then show them something from their own data quickly, because they'll sit up when they see their own numbers.
  62. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That's how we do it. Demo on their data, not a slide deck.
  63. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Good. Oh, before I forget. Is there anything coming from your side that I should know about? Any changes? I'd hate to hear it from a client first.
  64. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Nothing specific for you that I know of. There's the usual release stuff, and I'm not going to promise dates on anything from engineering, because I'd only have to take it back. But if something touches your connectors or your data, you'll hear from us before you notice.
  65. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
    That's all I ask.
  66. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Right. One more thing from me, and then I'll hand it back. Your first year runs to the end of August, so there's a long way to go, but I'd like us to do a proper look at how things are going before that comes round. Starter has a six-monthly check-in, so this is a bit ahead of schedule, and I'd suggest we do the next one in the spring.
  67. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Spring's fine. Though if I'm sending clients over, I'd rather we spoke more often than that. Maybe a quick call each month while the referrals are warming up?
  68. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
I'd be glad to. Short ones, then. Fifteen minutes, pipeline first, as you like it.
  69. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Ha, you've learned me already. Okay. Early in the month, if you can. I'm less frantic then.
  70. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Early in the month. I'll put a recurring slot in and you can shift it when it clashes.
  71. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Brilliant. Now, is there anything you want from me? Because I feel like I've been doing all the asking.
  72. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Two things, really. First, the names of the two or three clients you're thinking of, when you're ready, so I can look at what they've got and be properly prepared. And second, a couple of people from your team for that training session, so I know who to invite.
  73. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Easy. I'll send both by the end of the week. Perhaps Thursday, if I can get the consultants to answer me. They're terrible at replying.
  74. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Ha. Aren't they all. Thursday would be great, but don't worry if it slips a day.
  75. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Right, so let me read it back, in case I've got it wrong. You send me times for a half-hour session with my consultants, not on a Friday. I send you names of the clients and the people, by Thursday. You pass the extra system question to Sophie for the new year. And we have a short call early each month.
  76. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That's it. And I'll send a one-page summary of today's usage numbers, so you've got something to show your leadership if they ask how it's going.
  77. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Oh, that would be lovely, thank you. Keep it simple, nobody reads more than a page.
  78. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
A page, I promise. With the growth in users, the questions, and the fact that everything's loading.
  79. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Perfect. Honestly, Marcus, I'm pleased with where this is. It was a bit of a leap for us at the start, being the first, and I wasn't sure how it would feel in practice. But it's turning into something I can explain to clients without waffling.
  80. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
That means a lot, thank you. And you being first has helped us too. A lot of what we've tidied up on the implementation side came out of working with your team.
  81. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Good. That's how a partnership should work, both sides able to say what they got out of it.
  82. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Agreed. Right, I think that's everything from me. Anything else on your list?
  83. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
No, I think that's the lot. Oh, actually, one small thing. The guide on permissions, the one I mentioned. Could you send me the link again? I want to forward it to the new people.
  84. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Yes, I'll put it in the same email as the session times.
  85. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
Thanks. Then I think we're done, and with a few minutes to spare, which almost never happens.
  86. Marcus Bell
    Marcus Bell
Don't tell anyone. Thanks, Joanna. Speak soon, and enjoy the rest of your Monday.
  87. Joanna Platt
    Joanna Platt
You too. Cheers, Marcus. Bye for now.
  88. Marcus Bell
