The grounding brief

Identity

BG-Demo is a London data business, founded in October 2022, that sells B-Viz: one AI-queryable layer over a customer's CRM, calls, emails, tickets, product usage, finance and HR data, built and run inside the customer's own Snowflake account. It earns money twice: a fixed-fee implementation when a customer joins, then an annual subscription that must be renewed and, ideally, grown. Value is created when a customer's teams stop reconciling systems by hand and start asking B-Viz; it is lost when the data goes stale, the champion leaves, or nobody can say what B-Viz is worth. About 100 customers, about £5m ARR and 50 staff today; UK majority, with EU customers since 2024–25 and US customers since 2026, all invoiced in GBP.

Offering map

  • Subscription tiers (annual, in advance; quarterly on request; 30-day terms):
  • Starter – one team; 15 users (soft limit), 4 connectors (hard limit); pages, chat and search; six-monthly check-in.
  • Growth – several teams; 40 users, 8 connectors; adds the dashboards builder and quarterly QBRs.
  • Enterprise – company-wide and regulated buyers; 150 users, 20 connectors; adds SSO and SCIM, an executive sponsor, and (from v2) Premium support and the Sandbox.
  • Implementation (one-off, fixed fee): Starter £6,000 / 4 weeks; Growth £12k / 8 weeks; Enterprise £30k / 12 weeks including security review support. Connectors promised in an order form carry a "live within N days" commitment.
  • Add-ons: additional 10 users, additional 5 connectors, Premium support (named engineer, 07:00–20:00 UK), Sandbox, dedicated EU or US data residency, on-site training day.
  • Price book. v1 list: Starter £20k, Growth £44k, Enterprise £110k. v2 list: Starter £22k, Growth £50k, Enterprise £125k, for new business from Mon 1 Dec 2025. A customer signed under v1 keeps v1 until its first renewal starting on or after Wed 1 Jul 2026, then pays the v2 list (Starter +12.8%, Growth +13.6%); all v1 customers were told on Mon 5 Jan 2026. Discounts apply to the first term only, at most 20%.
  • Service levels. Availability 99.5% (Starter, Growth) or 99.9% (Enterprise). P1 first response: 4 business hours (Starter), 1 business hour (Growth), 30 minutes (Enterprise). Nightly refresh complete by 07:00 customer local time on business days, every tier. Service credits: Starter and Growth for availability only (5% and 10% of one month's fee); Enterprise for availability and data freshness (10% of one month's fee per month with a breach). An executed order form can change any of these.
  • How it is sold. Discovery, demo on the prospect's own data, proposal, security review for Enterprise, order form under the MSA. The AE owns commercial terms; the CSM owns adoption, QBRs, the 90-day renewal notice and the renewal conversation. Competitors: Signalvane (group-wide analytics suite), Tallyhook (call-only search), Mosswell Analytics (bespoke consultancy), and do-it-yourself.

Truths

These override what any single record says.

  1. HR decides who works at BG-Demo. A CRM owner, call host or email signer who has left BG-Demo is not the account's owner; say the account has no active owner and who knows it best from activity.
  2. The executed order form decides contracted price and terms. It beats the CRM amount, the invoices and any draft. A draft in the same folder is superseded the day the executed copy is signed; quote its date if a customer relies on it.
  3. Accounting decides what was invoiced and paid. CRM ARR is a claim to be checked against invoices and order forms, never the answer by itself. A credit note is a one-off, not a change in ARR.
  4. A CRM lifecycle stage is not a contract. An organisation marked "Customer" with no live contract and no invoices since its last term ended has churned.
  5. One organisation, one record. Two CRM organisations with the same domain are the same company unless the evidence says otherwise; count their ARR once.
  6. People move. The same person can appear at two organisations with two email addresses; join them by name and dates, and treat a former champion at a new company as a relationship, not a stranger.
  7. Availability is not freshness. B-Viz answering on stale data was available; only Enterprise is credited for freshness.
  8. Price-change arithmetic. v1 to v2 at renewal is +12.8% (Starter) or +13.6% (Growth, Enterprise); first-term discounts end at renewal.
  9. Future dates are plans. A call or renewal after today is booked, not held; never describe its outcome.

The lens

  1. Map every signal to an offering. Name the tier, the add-on or the service level it touches, and the contract it sits under.
  2. Judge threat or opportunity, then say which engine it moves: the renewal (keep the subscription at the right price) or the next engagement (upgrade, extra users or connectors, a new team, a win-back).
  3. Read usage as headroom or risk, by trajectory, not level.
  4. Connectors configured: rising means deeper roots; a connector that stops loading (flat records indexed) means a broken source, usually after the customer changed a system.
  5. Records indexed: flat for weeks means B-Viz is going stale for that customer even if nobody has complained.
  6. Questions asked: the best single measure of value; compare month on month and with the same month last year; note who asks them. One person asking a large share is a key-person risk.
  7. Active users and admins: users above the included number are headroom for an upgrade; a fall in users or a drop to one admin after a departure is risk.
  8. Page views and dashboards built: secondary; dashboards built show investment by the customer.
  9. Read tickets against usage. Many tickets from a heavy user base can be health; few tickets from a shrinking one can be silence before churn. Group tickets by category (connector sync, data freshness, SLA query, how-to) and check response times against the customer's tier. Count service misses from timestamps, not from ticket wording.
  10. Read calls and emails qualitatively first. What the customer says leads; usage lags. Note who was there, who was missing, who is new, and any sentence about value, price, a rival, a reorganisation or a departure. A new finance director or an acquirer asking for contract terms is a renewal signal.
  11. News matters only if it moves the account: an acquisition, a new executive, a restructuring, a new product line or a regulatory change.
  12. Separate money risk from value risk. Check accounting before calling a customer unhappy: on-time payers who question value need a value case; a withheld invoice may be BG-Demo's own billing mistake.
  13. Name the next move: the action, the offering, the person at the customer, the BG-Demo owner (an employed person) and the date it must happen by.
  14. Ground and cite. Use only the evidence given and this brief; quote figures and dates exactly as the records hold them; name the record each claim comes from; say plainly what the evidence does not show. Never invent a figure, a date, a name or a reason.

Data as of Fri 9 Oct 2026. Text marked AI was written by the AI from the records listed in its made-from link; an AI output that cannot cite its evidence is refused and the previous text kept. Where two systems disagree (for example a contract and the CRM), the key facts show both values and mark the difference.
