What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026Kickoff for Mossbrook's own Starter use before introducing clients. Ben Ratcliffe wants written data-handling answers before client data is connected, and Joanna Platt asked what must be shown at renewal.
What happened: Marcus Bell and Hamza Akhtar set out connector order, Snowflake access and owners. Joanna said Mossbrook will use Starter itself first, then introduce only clients she would stake her name on.
Customer view: Ben asked where data goes and whether chat sends data out. Hamza would not guess on the AI detail and promised a written answer, which Ben wants before anything with client names is connected.
Commercial: Marcus confirmed Starter at £20k, with a term to 28 Aug 2026 and renewal on 29 Aug 2026. Referral contract questions go to Sophie Ling. Joanna asked what Mossbrook needs to show by renewal, and Marcus pointed to questions asked.
Watch: Starter has four connectors as a hard limit and no single sign-on. Joanna said she wants to be told early if anything feels off.

Next steps
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Marcus Bell to get the written data-handling answer from BG-Demo's security people for Ben Ratcliffe.
- Marcus Bell to ask Sophie Ling to reply in writing on who holds the contract for referred clients.
- Marcus Bell to send a thirty minute check-in invite for a month after go-live.
Risks
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Ben Ratcliffe needs a written answer on AI data handling before client data is connected, and it is not yet given.
- Starter has no single sign-on and a hard limit of four connectors, which may frustrate security and client plans.
- Referral contract ownership is unresolved and sits with Sophie Ling.
Opportunities
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Joanna Platt plans to introduce B-Viz to some of Mossbrook's clients, each a possible new customer.
- Mossbrook may later need a higher tier or more connectors as use grows.
Transcript
- Marcus BellHello, can people hear me all right? I've got Joanna on the screen, and I think that's Ciaran coming in now.
- Joanna PlattHi Marcus, yes, loud and clear. Afternoon, everyone. Ben said he might be a minute or two, he's finishing something with a client.
- Ciaran DohertyAfternoon. I'm here. Mic's fine.
- Hamza AkhtarAfternoon all. Hamza here, I'm the implementation consultant, so I'll be the one doing most of the hands-on work with you. Nice to finally put faces to the emails.
- Marcus BellThanks, Hamza. Right, while we wait for Ben, I'll share my screen and say what I want to cover. Can you see that? It's a plain list.
- Joanna PlattYep, I can see it. Four items. Good.
- Marcus BellSo, one, who is who and how Mossbrook is using B-Viz, because you're a slightly different shape to most of our customers. Two, what we connect and in what order. Three, security and access in Snowflake. Four, owners and next steps. Happy to change the order if you want.
- Joanna PlattThat works. Can I start with the pipeline, though? It sets the context for everything else. Sorry, it's a habit.
- Marcus BellPlease, go on.
- Joanna PlattSo, we build and run Snowflake warehouses for about sixty mid-sized clients, mostly in the North West. Most of them have the same complaint: the data's in the warehouse but nobody in the business can ask it a question without us writing a query. That's why I brought you in. Our plan is Starter for our own use first, so we learn it properly, and then we start introducing it to clients where it fits. Not all of them. Only the ones I'd stake my name on.
- Hamza AkhtarThat's useful, thank you. So internally it's your own CRM, calls, tickets, that sort of thing, in one place?
- Joanna PlattMostly, yes. Our CRM, the helpdesk, the shared drive and the call recorder. Let's write that down actually, because Ciaran will have opinions on the order.
- Ciaran DohertyI do. Which of those is the messiest?
- Joanna PlattThe CRM, if I'm honest. Fields people stopped filling in a year ago. The helpdesk is fine.
- Ciaran DohertyRight. That's a schema question, not a B-Viz question. I'd still connect it, but I want to look at the fields first.
- Marcus BellThat's fair. Just so everyone's got the contract in their head: you're on Starter, nineteen and a half thousand pounds a year, which is the figure on the order form and what's been invoiced, so those match. Fifteen users, and that's a soft limit, and four connectors, which is a hard limit. The order form was signed on 29 Aug 2025.
- Joanna PlattFour connectors. Yes. Which is why I want to be careful what we use them on. I don't want to burn one on something we'll turn off in a month.
- Marcus BellExactly the right instinct. Hamza, do you want to take that bit?
- Hamza AkhtarSure. Ben, hello, I think you've just joined.
- Ben RatcliffeHi, sorry, sorry. Ben Ratcliffe, security and compliance. I've missed the start, I realise. Anything I should know?
- Joanna PlattOnly that we're Starter, four connectors, and Marcus is about to go through security and access, so you're just in time.
- Ben RatcliffeGood. Because that's what I'll be asked about by every client we ever introduce, so I'd rather get it right now.
- Hamza AkhtarOkay, so connectors first, and then Ben's bit. Starter gives you four. My suggestion for you is to start with just two and add the others once we've seen the data land properly. The helpdesk is simple, so it's a good first one. The call recorder is the second. Then the CRM and the shared drive once Ciaran's happy with the models. Does that make sense?
- Ciaran DohertyWhich warehouse is that running on? In your set-up, I mean, not mine.
- Hamza AkhtarGood question. It runs inside your own Snowflake account, so it uses a warehouse you give it. I'd suggest a small dedicated one, so you can see exactly what it costs you and it never competes with client work.
- Ciaran DohertyDedicated, yes. Extra small to start. I'll create it. I'm not letting it near the shared one.
- Joanna PlattAnd that's your side, Ciaran, not Hamza's. Who owns this, us or them? I'm putting you down for the warehouse and the database.
- Ciaran DohertyFine. Mine.
- Marcus BellWhile you're writing that down, one thing from my side. I've pulled the numbers on what you have so far, and honestly there's almost nothing, which is what you'd expect a week in. Somebody's logged in once or twice, I think that's Ciaran poking around. So there's no history to worry about. We're building from a clean start.
- Ciaran DohertyThat was me. I wanted to see what role it created. Before anyone asks, I checked the role grants and it's read-only on the schemas I pointed it at. Nothing else.
- Ben RatcliffeGood. Can I ask about that? What exactly can it see, and where does anything leave our account? Because my first question from a client will be whether their data goes somewhere else.
- Hamza AkhtarSure, and it's the main design point. B-Viz is built and run inside your Snowflake account. The data stays in your account. What we have is the application layer, and the access you grant to it. So the answer to where it goes is: it doesn't go anywhere, it's queried where it already sits. The thing to look at is the roles, which is why Ciaran's grants matter so much.
- Ben RatcliffeOkay. And the AI side? When someone asks a question in the chat, is that data being sent out?
- Hamza AkhtarI don't want to guess at the detail of that. I'd rather get the exact wording from our security people and send it to you in writing, so you can quote it. Is that all right?
- Ben RatcliffeYes, please. In writing. I'm not repeating something to a client from a call.
- Marcus BellI'll chase that. I'll take it as an action and I'll make sure it comes from the right person, not just me paraphrasing.
- Joanna PlattLet's write that down. Ben gets the written answer on data handling. Marcus owns it.
- Ben RatcliffeNext one. Access. Who can log in? We are fifteen users on Starter, and I'd like it to be fifteen named people, not a shared login someone passes around.
- Marcus BellNamed people, yes. Fifteen is the soft limit, so if you go a bit over nothing breaks, but we'd have a conversation about it. And just so you know, single sign-on is an Enterprise feature, so on Starter people have their own accounts rather than coming through your identity system.
- Ben RatcliffeRight. That's a shame, but fine. I'll keep a list of who has an account and review it. Who are the admins?
- Joanna PlattCiaran is the admin. Only Ciaran for now. I'd rather it was two people eventually, in case he's off.
- Ciaran DohertyI'm never off.
- Joanna PlattYou're off in October. We'll make it two.
- Ciaran DohertyBen, then. Security lead as second admin. Makes sense anyway.
- Ben RatcliffeFine by me, as long as I'm not the one setting up warehouses.
- Hamza AkhtarGood. So that's two admins, Ciaran and Ben. Let me share something now. I'll put up the rough plan for the build, give me a second. Okay, can you see it? It's a simple timeline. We're looking at around four weeks for a Starter implementation, and week one is almost entirely access and the first connector.
- Joanna PlattFour weeks. And that includes the point where my consultants can actually use it?
- Hamza AkhtarThey'd be able to try it on the helpdesk data by the end of the first week or so, if access is sorted. I'm being a bit careful with that, because it depends on how quickly the roles are created.
- Ciaran DohertyRoles I can do this week. Not Friday. I don't change production accounts on a Friday.
- Hamza AkhtarUnderstood. Then it's early next week. I'll write it as early next week and not pretend to be more precise than that.
- Joanna PlattWhat does the client need on day one? That's what I keep asking, because that's what I'll be asked when we roll this out to the clients. Let's say one of ours has a Snowflake account and a CRM. What do they have to do before you can start?
- Hamza AkhtarHonestly, it's three things. They need a Snowflake account and someone who can create a role and a warehouse. They need to tell us which systems they want connected, and give a named person for each of them who can approve access. And they need an owner on their side who'll check the answers are right in the first couple of weeks. It's that last one that gets forgotten. If nobody checks, nobody trusts it.
- Joanna PlattBrilliant. Write that down, someone. Three things on day one. I'll turn that into a one-pager for the client conversations.
- Marcus BellI can look it over once you've drafted it, happy to. I'd just keep it as your document, in your words.
- Joanna PlattOf course it's ours.
- Ciaran DohertyBack to connectors for a second. The helpdesk first, fine. But the call recorder. Is that a sync or a pull? I want to know how often it hits the account and what it writes.
- Hamza AkhtarIt refreshes overnight, and by seven in the morning on business days the refresh should be complete, that's the standard on every tier. It writes into a schema that you name, nothing outside it.
- Ciaran DohertyGood. I'll name it. Something obvious. Nobody should have to guess what's in it.
- Joanna PlattDocumentation, Ciaran. You always say it. Make it a document the client can keep.
- Ciaran DohertyI'll write a page. One page.
- Marcus BellCan I raise one more thing, which is how we'll know it's working? I'd suggest we don't just measure logins. What I look at is the questions people ask, because that's the best sign it's useful. Fifteen seats is small, so every one of your people matters. I'd like us to check in about a month after go-live and look at that together.
- Joanna PlattYes. Shall we book that now so it doesn't slip?
- Marcus BellShall we book thirty minutes? I'll send an invite after this call, and we can move it if it clashes.
- Joanna PlattDo that. And Starter has a six-monthly check-in as standard, is that right?
- Marcus BellYes, six-monthly as standard, so this extra one is just me being keen at the start.
- Ben RatcliffeOne more from me, and it's partly about the referrals. When Mossbrook introduces a client, who holds the contract? Is it us, or you, or the client directly? Because that changes what I have to document.
- Marcus BellThat's one I'd rather not answer on a call, to be honest. It's a commercial question, so it goes to Sophie Ling, who owns your account on the commercial side. I'll ask her to come back to Joanna and you in writing.
- Joanna PlattThat's fine. I'd rather have it clear than assume. I never let a referral go without a follow-up, so I want to know exactly what happens after I make an introduction.
- Marcus BellUnderstood. Sophie will pick that up. Writing it down on my side.
- Hamza AkhtarOkay, let me go back to the plan and put names against it, because I've been talking about it in the abstract. Week one: Ciaran creates the warehouse, database and roles. Ben reviews the access and signs off. I connect the helpdesk. Week two: call recorder. Weeks three and four: CRM and the shared drive, if you still want them, and then we look at the pages and the chat together with your consultants.
- Joanna PlattCan we leave the last two open? I'd like to decide once I've seen the first two with real data. If it turns out the CRM's too messy, I'd rather use the connector on something else.
- Hamza AkhtarOf course. That's why I'd said two to start. We have four to use, and nothing's forced.
- Ciaran DohertyI'd take the shared drive over the CRM, if I'm honest. Cleaner. But I'll look at the fields before I say.
- Joanna PlattFine. Ciaran decides after he's looked, and I'll back him. Write it down.
- Ben RatcliffeWhat about the sign-off on access? I'd like it to be a record. An email isn't good enough for me. Some kind of list of roles and what they can do, dated.
- Ciaran DohertyI'll export the role grants and attach them. I checked them already, so it's a case of tidying.
- Ben RatcliffeThat works. And I'll put it in our own register, so we've got it for the clients later.
- Hamza AkhtarPerfect, that's exactly what I'd hoped for.
- Joanna PlattCan I ask something slightly cheeky, Marcus? When the contract comes round again, next August I think, what do we need to have shown by then? So I'm not caught out. I'd like to be able to say what we got.
- Marcus BellNot cheeky at all. The term runs to 28 Aug 2026 and renewal is 29 Aug 2026. I'll be in touch well before that, and on pricing and terms I'll hand you to Sophie. From my side the useful thing is that we'll have a record of how much people used it and what they asked. That's what I'd want in front of you.
- Joanna PlattGood. Then let's make sure the questions people ask are things we can point at. Ciaran, you'll help with that.
- Ciaran DohertyIf it's in the logs, I'll find it.
- Hamza AkhtarRight. I'll summarise, and tell me if I've got anything wrong. Ciaran creates a dedicated small warehouse, the database and the read-only roles, early next week. Ben reviews and signs off the access, with the dated list of grants. I connect the helpdesk first, then the call recorder. The CRM or the shared drive comes after, Ciaran's call. Two admins, Ciaran and Ben. Fifteen named users, no shared logins.
- Joanna PlattThat's right. And on our side, I'll draft the day-one one-pager for clients and send it to Marcus to read.
- Marcus BellAnd mine: the written answer on data handling for Ben from our security people, a word with Sophie about who holds the contract on referrals, and an invite for a thirty minute check-in a month after go-live.
- Ben RatcliffeGood. I'd like the data handling answer before we connect anything that has client names in it.
- Marcus BellUnderstood. Then Hamza, helpdesk first, and hold off on anything else until Ben has that.
- Hamza AkhtarYes, that's the sensible order anyway.
- Joanna PlattOne last thing and then I'll let you go. This partnership is meant to be something both sides can explain. If I introduce a client and it goes badly, it's on me. So if anything feels off in the first weeks, tell me early. Don't wait for the check-in.
- Marcus BellI will. And likewise, if something feels off for you, ring me. I'm happy to jump on a call, you don't need to wait for a ticket.
- Ciaran DohertyTickets are fine. Attach the query.
- Marcus BellHa. Yes, a ticket with the query attached is the best kind.
- Ben RatcliffeNothing more from me. Thanks all, that was clearer than I expected. I'll wait for the written note.
- Hamza AkhtarI'll send a short email later today with the plan and the owners, so everyone's got it in one place. Shout if I've misquoted anyone.
- Joanna PlattBrilliant. Thanks, everyone. Speak soon.
- Marcus BellThanks all. I'll stop sharing and stop the recording. Enjoy the rest of your day.
- Ciaran DohertyCheers.
