What was said
What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026Demo to Mick Overton on 18 Oct 2023 with Tobias Renwick. Mick liked the load and customer-contact answers and the plain statement of limits. Driver hours need another connection, and an IT note is promised.
What happened: Tobias ran Mick's late-loads question and a question on which customers were told. One answer was old, which Tobias used to separate available from fresh.
Customer view: Mick said "That's the bit I want." He also valued hearing what the product does not do.
Commercial: Driver hours sit in another system and could be a first connector candidate, which touches connector count. Pat was not on this call, and price was deliberately not discussed.
Watch: Tobias owes a written IT note covering data location, who sees what, how freshness is measured and what happens when a source stops updating. Mick wants Pat copied and will brief the dispatch lead himself.

Follow-up
Next steps
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Tobias Renwick to send the written IT note to Mick and Tom, copying Pat.
- Tobias to check the freshness point against the customer's dispatch system.
- Tom Ashdown to send a note of what the demo covered and did not, and book the next session.
Risks
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Answers go stale if a driver's tablet stops updating, which could undermine trust.
- Dispatch and IT will ask where the data runs and who sees driver information.
- Pat, who holds the budget decision, was not on this call.
Opportunities
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Connecting the driver hours system would answer the question that gets the customer into trouble.
- Mick is a clear internal champion and is bringing in the office manager and dispatch lead.
Transcript
- Tom AshdownMorning, Mick, can you see the screen? Tobias is on with us, he's going to run the demo.
- Mick OvertonI can see it. Morning, Tobias. Sorry, I've got the dispatch board open on the other screen, so I'll be half watching it.
- Tobias RenwickGood morning, Mick. Before I start, what will your IT people need to see? That's usually where these go wrong.
- Mick OvertonThey'll want to know where it runs, and who can see the answers. Our dispatch lot will ask who can see the driver information in particular.
- Tobias RenwickTo be precise, those are the right questions. The honest answer is that I'll answer the where in writing, and I'd rather do that than improvise on a call. Who sees what, I'll cover in the same note.
- Mick OvertonFine. Let's see it do something useful, then.
- Tom AshdownGood. Tobias, run Mick's question, the one from last time: where every load is right now, and which ones are running late.
- Tobias RenwickI'll ask it in plain words, the way a dispatcher would. There. It's listed the loads, the status of each one, and where it's late, it shows the time it was last updated.
- Mick OvertonHang on, that one says it's on the road, but the driver's been stopped for an hour.
- Tobias RenwickThen the answer is only as current as the record. The trade-off is that if the driver's tablet doesn't update, the answer will be stale, and it should say so. Can you see the time it was last updated?
- Mick OvertonYes, it's from the morning. So it's not wrong, it's just old.
- Tobias RenwickExactly. That's the distinction I'd want you to test. It's available, but it isn't fresh, and those are different problems.
- Tom AshdownThat's a good one to bring up with the drivers' side, Mick. Let's get something in the diary for that.
- Mick OvertonRight. Now show me which customers have been told about the late ones.
- Tobias RenwickI'll ask that. It shows the emails sent to each customer about the load, with the dates. Where nothing has been sent, it says nothing has been sent, rather than leaving a blank.
- Mick OvertonThat's the bit I want. Pat's always asking me who rang who, and I've got no answer.
- Tom AshdownNo drama, Mick, now you've got one. Pat, do you want to see the number side while Tobias is on this?
- Tobias RenwickI'd rather not talk price while I'm showing the product, but happy to take questions after. Mick, is there anything else you'd want the demo to answer?
- Mick OvertonWhich drivers are on which jobs, and whether any are going over their hours. That's the thing that gets us in trouble.
- Tobias RenwickI'd be careful there. Driver hours sit in a different system, and if it isn't connected, the honest answer is that B-Viz can't answer it. I'd rather say that than guess.
- Mick OvertonRight. Then that's the first thing to connect, is it?
- Tobias RenwickIt's a candidate for the first connection, yes. We'd need to see what you use before I'd promise that it's the first.
- Mick OvertonFair enough. Tom, is that in the note?
- Tom AshdownIt will be. Leave that with me, Mick. I'll put down what the demo covered, and what it didn't.
- Mick OvertonGood. I like that you said what it doesn't do. Most people don't.
- Tobias RenwickThe honest answer is it doesn't do everything, and I'd rather you hear that now than in month three.
- Tom AshdownRight, Mick, you've got the bones of the next step. Can we have a quick word about who else needs to see it?
- Mick OvertonThe office manager, and Pat, obviously. And the dispatch lead, but I'll talk to him myself.
- Tom AshdownGood. Tobias, anything from your side for the IT note? What goes in it?
- Tobias RenwickThe location of the data, who can see what, how the freshness is measured, and what happens when a source stops updating. I'll write that plainly and send it to Mick and Tom.
- Mick OvertonFine. Send it to Pat as well. He'll want to read it himself.
- Tobias RenwickI'll copy him. And I'll be precise about what we know and what we're still checking.
- Mick OvertonGood. Now I have to go, the Leeds run is calling me. Thanks both.
- Tom AshdownCheers, Mick. Speak soon. I'll send you the note.
- Tobias RenwickThank you, Mick. Good to meet you.
- Mick OvertonYou too. Bye.
- Tom AshdownRight, Tobias, you've got a fan there. Let's get the next session in the diary and I'll chase the rest.
- Tobias RenwickAgreed. I'll have the IT note to you before then, and I'll check the freshness point against their dispatch system.
- Tom AshdownBrilliant. No drama, we're in a good place. Speak soon, Tobias.
- Tobias RenwickSpeak soon. Thanks, Tom.
