What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026Rosalind Pidgeon described a farm team working across disconnected systems. Edward Cleave asked for a cost figure, wants one price and a security review, and will not pay for shelfware. Starter-scale first team likely.
What happened: Sophie Ling ran a discovery call on 12 May 2026. Rosalind, Head of Farm Services, said visits, queries and invoices sit in different places, and staff ring the office or use a spreadsheet to find a farm's history.
Customer view: Edward Cleave, Chief Executive, asked what this costs the business, wanting "a figure, not a feeling". He also said he is not paying for software that sits on the shelf.
Commercial: Sophie quoted the deal at £28k on her side and said she would confirm whether it includes set-up. Edward wants one number with inclusions spelled out. Rosalind raised the wider group of practices as a later step; no commitment was made.
Watch: Edward wants security material before anything else and asked for short messages. The evidence does not show a cost-of-problem figure agreed, nor a decision date.

Next steps
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Sophie Ling to send a short written price as one number with inclusions spelled out.
- Rosalind Pidgeon to send the three systems and their owners this week.
- Sophie Ling to book a demo on Brightcombe's own data and have the solutions engineer send security material.
Risks
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Edward Cleave wants a quantified cost of the current problem and fears unused software, so the value case must be built early.
- The £28k deal figure may or may not include set-up, and the split is still unconfirmed.
- Security review is a precondition for Edward, and delay could stall the deal.
Opportunities
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Rosalind sees other practices wanting B-Viz if the farm team succeeds, a path to a wider tier later.
- A first team on the practice system, invoices and visit notes fits a Starter-scale start.
Transcript
- Sophie LingAfternoon all, thanks for making the time. Can everyone hear me okay?
- Rosalind PidgeonAfternoon Sophie. Yes, you're fine. Sorry, Edward's still finding his way into the call.
- Edward CleaveHere. Sorry, I was on the other line. Hello.
- Sophie LingNo problem at all. How's your week been so far? Busy, I'd guess, with the practices.
- Edward CleaveBusy is right. Let's get on with it, I've got another one at five.
- Sophie LingOf course. I'd like to start with what you're trying to fix, then how things work today, and then we can see if B-Viz is a fit. Rosalind, would you like to say a bit about the farm side?
- Rosalind PidgeonYes. The farm-client team does visits, queries and invoices, and right now they're all in different places. A vet goes out to a farm, and the invoice is in one system and the visit notes are in another.
- Sophie LingAnd how do the team find a farm's history today?
- Rosalind PidgeonHonestly? They ring the office and ask. Or they look in a spreadsheet that someone updates when they remember.
- Edward CleaveWhat does that cost us? I'd like a figure, not a feeling.
- Sophie LingThat's a good question, and I'd like to come back to it properly. I'd want to understand the time the team spends and the invoices that get queried, so we can work it out together.
- Edward CleaveFine. But I'm not paying for a lot of software that sits on the shelf.
- Rosalind PidgeonIt wouldn't. The point is to get the farm team asking questions and getting answers in seconds.
- Sophie LingWhat systems would it need to connect to, to start with? I'm thinking the practice system, the invoices and the visit notes.
- Rosalind PidgeonThose three, yes. And possibly the diary, but we can leave that for later.
- Edward CleaveKeep it simple at first. One team, one set of farms, then we see.
- Sophie LingThat makes sense. The deal is sitting at £28k on my side. I believe that includes the set-up work, but I'll confirm the split for you.
- Edward CleaveI'd rather see it as one number, with what's included spelled out. Send that over.
- Sophie LingWill do. I'll put it in writing with the tier we discussed.
- Rosalind PidgeonCan I ask about the group later? If the farm team goes well, the other practices will want it too.
- Sophie LingYes, that's a natural next step. We can plan for growth in the way that suits you, and not commit to anything today.
- Edward CleaveRight, I need to see the security side before anything else. Who looks after that?
- Sophie LingOur solutions engineer looks after the security questions. I'll get her to send you the right material, and she'll answer properly rather than guess.
- Sophie LingOkay, let me recap. You'll send me the three systems and who owns each one, I'll send the pricing breakdown, and we'll book a demo on your own data.
- Rosalind PidgeonThat's right. I'll get the system owners to send their details this week.
- Edward CleaveGood. Sophie, keep it short when you send things over. Thanks, both.
- Sophie LingThanks Edward, thanks Rosalind. Speak soon, bye.
