What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026First onboarding call on Growth. All sources waiting for access. The payroll supplier only allows exports, so a nightly file is planned. Lorna wants client managers to see only their own employers. Access and sample file due this week.
What happened: Callie Brennan walked Lorna Cairns and Euan Drummond through connectors, employer mapping and ownership of next steps. Five sources were named, with the accounting system as a sixth, and every source was still waiting for access.
Customer view: Lorna's priority was separation of data. She said "One employer's data must never be seen alongside another's." Euan flagged that the payroll supplier only allows exports, not a direct read account.
Commercial: This is the Growth tier, forty users and up to eight connectors, with room to spare. Lorna also needs to check whether employers must be told their queries are going in, which BG-Demo cannot answer for her.
Watch: Euan was unsure whether the export carries employer names and pay dates, and has only promised a sample. Invites are held until the first refresh lands.

Follow-up
Next steps
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Euan sends written access for the helpdesk, call recorder and shared mailbox, plus the sample export, by Wednesday.
- Lorna sends the client manager and employer list and confirms the terms position by Thursday.
- Callie meets both again on Friday at midday to review what landed.
Risks
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- The payroll supplier allows exports only, so the payroll connector depends on a nightly file whose contents Euan has not confirmed.
- Lorna has not yet checked whether employers must be told their queries are going into B-Viz.
- Access for the CRM still depends on Euan's admin colleagues.
Opportunities
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026- Per-client-manager visibility fits the Growth tier and answers Lorna's main concern.
- Five named sources plus accounting leave headroom under the eight-connector limit.
Transcript
- Callie BrennanHello, can you both hear me all right? I can see Lorna but I've got nothing from Euan yet.
- Euan DrummondAye, sorry, I was on mute. Is that better?
- Callie BrennanPerfect. Good afternoon, both. How's the week been treating you?
- Lorna CairnsBusy, as ever. We've a run of pay dates at the end of the week, so the client managers are all heads down. But it's quiet enough just now to give you the time.
- Callie BrennanLovely, thank you. So, the plan for the next fifty minutes. First, connectors and where we are on access. Second, how your employers map into B-Viz, because that's the bit I'd like to get right first time. Third, who does what before we switch on the refresh. Does that work for you?
- Lorna CairnsThat's grand. Let's get it right first time.
- Euan DrummondFine by me.
- Callie BrennanGreat. So you're on Growth, which is forty users and up to eight connectors. What I need from your side is written confirmation of each source before I touch it. I never start a connector without access in writing, so if it's only been said in a chat, I'll ask you to put it in an email. No offence meant.
- Euan DrummondNone taken, that's how I'd want it. Right, so what we've got is the payroll system, which is the big one. Then the helpdesk where the employer queries land, the call recorder, the CRM that holds the employer records and fees, and the client services mailbox. That's five. There's the accounting system for fees as well, but that's finance, not me.
- Callie BrennanOkay, so five we can name, the accounting system as a sixth, which leaves a couple spare under the limit. Which of those have you got credentials for today?
- Euan DrummondThe helpdesk and the call recorder. Read-only accounts, I set them up last week. The CRM I need to ask our admin people about. And the payroll system is, well. That's the awkward one.
- Lorna CairnsWhy awkward?
- Euan DrummondBecause it holds every employer's payroll data, and the supplier only lets us export. They won't give us a direct read account. So it would be a scheduled export file dropped somewhere for you to pick up.
- Callie BrennanThat maps cleanly, actually. We can take a nightly file in, and remember it all lands inside your own Snowflake account, so nothing is sitting with us. What I'd want to know is what's in the file. Does it carry employer names, or just an internal code?
- Euan DrummondBoth, I think. I'd need to check.
- Callie BrennanMm. I don't love 'I think' on a mapping, so could you send me a sample with the pay values blanked out? I only need the column headings and a few rows of the employer fields.
- Euan DrummondYeah, I can do that. Tomorrow, probably.
- Lorna CairnsCan I stop us there. One employer's data must never be seen alongside another's. Client managers should only see their own employers. Is that how this works?
- Callie BrennanGood question, and yes, we can set it so each client manager sees only the employers assigned to them. What I need from your side is the list of who looks after which employer, so we can carry it into the mapping before anyone is invited.
- Lorna CairnsThat's in the CRM. I can get that exported myself. And has the client been told? Sorry, habit. I mean, do any of our employers need to hear that their queries are going into this?
- Callie BrennanThat's your call on the contracts, not mine. What I can say is that nothing leaves your Snowflake account, which is usually the reassurance people are after.
- Lorna CairnsAye. I'll check our terms and let you know.
- Callie BrennanRight, I'm just sharing my screen so you can see the connector list. Give me a second. Can you see it?
- Euan DrummondAye, I see a grid with the sources down the side.
- Callie BrennanThat's the one. Each source gets a status: waiting for access, access received, mapped, live. Right now all of yours say waiting for access, which is exactly where I'd expect us to be. The helpdesk and the call recorder will move first, once I have those two in writing.
- Euan DrummondI'll email you the details after this call. Do you want the mailbox in that too?
- Callie BrennanMailbox, yes, but tell me exactly which one. Is it a shared client services mailbox, or do the client managers each have their own?
- Lorna CairnsMostly each their own, with one shared one for the general queries. I'd start with the shared one. The personal ones have all sorts in them.
- Callie BrennanSensible. Shared mailbox first, and we can talk about the others once you're comfortable. Fewer surprises that way.
- Euan DrummondWhile you've got that grid up, can I ask about the people side? I've only set myself and Lorna up so far, and there's one client manager who's had a look.
- Callie BrennanYes, I can see just a few of you have logged in, which is normal at this stage. There's no point inviting the rest before the first refresh, because they'd open it, see nothing, and decide it's empty. We invite them after the data lands.
- Lorna CairnsThat makes sense. Mind, they'll be asking. They've been told it's coming.
- Callie BrennanThen tell them it's coming next week, in stages. Before we switch on the refresh, I'd rather have it right for a handful of employers than half right for all of them.
- Lorna CairnsWhen we do the mapping, I'd want the pay date showing against each employer. That's the first thing a client manager asks. When's their pay date?
- Callie BrennanIf it's a field in the payroll export, it maps cleanly, and it'd sit next to the open queries and the recent calls. That's another reason I want the sample file. If the pay date isn't in there, we'd need another route.
- Euan DrummondI believe it is, but you've heard me say that. I'll check the sample.
- Callie BrennanHa, fair. So let me say back what happens next, with a date against each. Euan, you send written access for the helpdesk, the call recorder and the shared mailbox, plus the sample export, by Wednesday. Lorna, you send the list of client managers and their employers, and confirm anything on the terms side, by Thursday. I connect what I've got in writing and write the setup note as I go. Then we meet again on Friday to look at what landed.
- Lorna CairnsFriday works. Not too late in the day though, I've pay dates to check.
- Euan DrummondSame here, middle of the day is better.
- Callie BrennanMidday it is, I'll send the invite. Anything else before I let you go?
- Lorna CairnsNo, that's clear. Thanks, Callie.
- Euan DrummondCheers. Speak Friday.
- Callie BrennanThanks both. Speak soon.
