What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026Kirsty Hepworth reported the schools list hanging when filtered by policy type, which slowed her renewal calls. Olivia Grant found a full lookup on each filter and suggested filtering by school name first, which helped while a fix was looked at.
Problem: The schools list was slow, especially when filtered by policy type, and the filter hung during renewal calls.
Handling: First response came after 448 minutes. Olivia Grant found the filter runs a full lookup across all members each time, and Marek Strand was asked to check whether the index on the policy table is used. The ticket was solved on 27 Jan 2026 and closed on 31 Jan 2026.
Watch: Kirsty says filtering by school name first helps, but afternoons are still slow, and the record does not show a fix.

- created · Kirsty Hepworth 21 Jan 2026 12:31Hi, the list of schools in B-Viz takes a long time to open for me. Sometimes it's long enough that I give up and go back to the spreadsheet. It's usually fine in the morning, but this week it has been very slow after lunch. I'm trying to get through my renewal calls and the delay is adding up. Is this something on our side, or is it the amount of data? Could someone look at it? Thanks, Kirsty
- Public reply · Olivia Grant 21 Jan 2026 19:59Hi Kirsty, thanks for letting us know, and sorry this is getting in the way of your renewal calls. I'm looking into the schools list now. It would help to know which page you were on, roughly what time it was slow, and whether other views were slow too. Can you send those if you have them? Regards, Olivia
- Public reply · Kirsty Hepworth 22 Jan 2026 12:21Hi Olivia, it was the schools list page, mostly after lunch on Wednesday and again today. Other views seem okay as far as I can tell. The worst bit is when I filter by policy type, because it hangs. I've tried refreshing and it made no real difference. Thanks, Kirsty
- Public reply · Olivia Grant 26 Jan 2026 16:50Hi Kirsty, thanks for the detail. I've found that the filter by policy type is running a full lookup across all members each time, which is why it slows at busy times. We're looking at a fix for that. In the meantime, if you filter by school name first, it should load much quicker. Could you try that and let me know? Regards, Olivia
- Internal note · Olivia Grant 27 Jan 2026 09:14Filter by policy type on the schools list runs the join on every row, not on the filtered set. Reproduced on the Kelbrook test view. Marek, can you check whether the index on the policy table is being used? Not sure yet whether this is only the filter or the join too. Holding the customer reply until we know more.
- Public reply · Kirsty Hepworth 27 Jan 2026 11:20Hi Olivia, filtering by school name first has helped a lot, thanks. It's still a bit slow in the afternoons, but it's usable. Please keep me posted on the fix. Cheers, Kirsty
