What this says
As at Fri 9 Oct 2026Nell Ashcombe's final board pack for the quarter to 30 Jun 2024, issued 16 Jul 2024. It reports contracted ARR of £617k, 23 customers and 18 staff, with no prior-quarter comparison. It is a historic snapshot, not current as of 9 Oct 2026.
What it is: an internal board pack prepared by Nell Ashcombe, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, giving three headline numbers and commentary. It defines ARR as "Annual subscription value under executed order forms" and excludes implementation fees.
Claims: £617k contracted ARR, 23 customers with a live contract and a headcount of 18 held by HR, all at 30 Jun 2024. These are the position at that date only.
Not settled: the document says the tier mix "is not broken out in this pack" and gives no opening figure, so no trend can be read. It "does not report cash, pipeline, churn or usage".
Asks: the board is asked to agree that future packs show quarter-on-quarter movement and add renewals and usage appendices, with Nell owning each action. The document does not show whether these were delivered.
Body
BG-Demo - Board Pack - quarter to 30 Jun 2024
Status: Final Prepared by: Nell Ashcombe, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder Issued: 16 Jul 2024 Period covered: the quarter ending 30 Jun 2024
1. Purpose of this pack
This pack gives the board the headline position at the end of the quarter, and a plain commentary on what sits behind the numbers. It is deliberately short. Where the evidence in the pack does not answer a question, it says so rather than guessing.
Three things to take away:
- Contracted annual recurring revenue stands at £617k.
- We have 23 customers.
- We are 18 people.
The approach throughout is: say what happened, say how we know.
2. Headline numbers
| Measure | Position at 30 Jun 2024 | How it is defined |
|---|---|---|
| Annual recurring revenue (contracted) | £617k | Annual subscription value under executed order forms |
| Customers | 23 | Organisations with a live contract, counted once each |
| Headcount | 18 | People employed by BG-Demo, as held by HR |
A note on definitions, because they matter more than the totals:
Read the whole document (5,315 characters)
- ARR is the contracted figure. It is taken from executed order forms, not from the CRM amount and not from invoices alone. A one-off implementation fee is not part of it.
- Customers are organisations with a live contract. A CRM record marked "Customer" with no live contract is not counted.
- Headcount follows HR. Anyone who has left is not counted, whatever a CRM owner field still says.
3. Revenue commentary
B-Viz earns money twice: a fixed-fee implementation when a customer joins, then an annual subscription that has to be renewed and, ideally, grown. The ARR figure above measures only the second of those.
What the numbers tell us:
- With 23 customers and contracted ARR of £617k, the book is made up of a small number of accounts, each of which matters. Losing or failing to grow a single one is visible in the total.
- The mix of Starter, Growth and Enterprise customers is not broken out in this pack. The evidence here does not show how the ARR splits by tier, so the board should not read a tier story into the total.
- Whether ARR moved up or down during the quarter is not stated in this pack, because no opening figure is part of it. We will not infer a trend from a single data point.
What we are watching:
- Renewals. The customer success lead owns the 90-day renewal notice for each account. Early notice is the best protection for the subscription.
- Next engagement. Upgrades, extra users, extra connectors and new teams are the second engine. They are most likely to come from accounts where questions asked are rising and active users are above the included number.
4. Customers
We closed the quarter with 23 customers.
Commentary:
- Each customer is one organisation with one record. Where two records share a domain we treat them as one company and count its ARR once.
- Customer health is judged on questions asked, records indexed, connectors configured and active users, read by trajectory rather than level. This pack does not carry account-level usage, so it makes no claim about individual accounts.
- Concentration risk is real at this size. Where one person at a customer asks a large share of the questions, that is a key-person risk, and the customer success lead is expected to widen the user base.
5. People
Headcount at quarter end is 18.
Commentary:
- At this size, every role carries weight, and a departure is felt immediately in account coverage.
- When someone leaves, their accounts have no active owner until reassigned. We say so openly and name who knows the account best from recent activity, rather than leaving a leaver's name on a record.
- The pack does not set out a hiring plan, so none is implied here.
6. Risks and open points
| Area | Observation | Evidence in this pack |
|---|---|---|
| Renewal timing | Notice and renewal conversations must start in good time | Process only, no account dates given |
| Data freshness | A customer's data going stale is a quiet way to lose value | Not measured in this pack |
| Key people | Both at customers (a champion leaving) and inside BG-Demo | Headcount only |
| Billing accuracy | Check accounting before calling a customer unhappy; a withheld invoice may be our own mistake | Not covered in this pack |
Plainly: this pack reports three headline numbers. It does not report cash, pipeline, churn or usage, and the board should not assume those are fine or otherwise from what is written here.
7. Asks of the board
- Note the headline position: £617k contracted ARR, 23 customers and 18 people at 30 Jun 2024.
- Agree that future packs should show the movement from the previous quarter beside each headline number, so that direction is visible and not only the level.
- Agree that account-level usage and renewal timing are added as short appendices.
8. Next steps
| Action | Owner | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Add quarter-on-quarter movement to the headline table | Nell Ashcombe | Next board pack |
| Add a renewals and usage appendix | Nell Ashcombe, with the customer success lead | Next board pack |
| Confirm account owners against HR records | Nell Ashcombe | Before the next board meeting |
Best, Nell
